Castle has View fit for Queen’s

- Stephen Halliday

Charlie Fox insists Ochilview has become a home from home for Queen’s Park as they close in on a fairytale promotion to the top flight.

The Spiders are unbeaten in their last eight league games at their temporary base in Stenhousemuir while they wait for Lesser Hampden’s redevelopment work to finish.

Friday’s 1- 0 win over Cove Rangers saw Owen Coyle’s side move five points clear at the top of the Championship.

With their next two games against Inverness and Arbroath both at Ochilview, Fox believes Queen’s are primed to strengthen their position in the title race.

Stopper Fox said: “Even though it’s not actually our home ground, Ochilview has become a bit of a fortress for us. The surface is good and it suits our style of play.

“We’ve made it a fortress and other teams aren’t really

PROMOTION HUNT Fox looking forward to coming to Ochilview because we’ve got a good record there.”

Fox has been a huge hit at Queen’s since joining them from English fifth-tier outfit Bromley in 2021.

He’s now on the verge of achieving Premiership status as Queen’s look to complete three consecutive promotions.

The 24-year- old said: “It would be the best season of my life if we do it.

“I thought last season would be difficult to top but if you had told me after we won the play-off final we would then be top of the Championship the following March, I’d have bitten your hand off.

“We’re delighted but no promotion has been achieved yet. We’ve got eight games to go and every match in this league is hard, you saw that against Cove. It was tough but also the most satisfying three points of the season.

“That it took Aaron Healy to come on and show a bit of magic to force the own goal that won it, shows the fine margins we need to keep getting these wins.”
