Raith deal won’t be cash bonanza

“I believe he can play for Hearts. You can see he has really got something.

“But he’s a kid. He has got to make mistakes to learn and develop into the player that he will become.

“We have to be patient with Garang. Will we get him back next year? That’s unknown.

“But he has a really big future, we just have to be patient with his ability.”

Ian Murray has warned there are no pots of gold waiting for him after Raith Rovers’ takeover.

A consortium headed by Kelty Hearts duo Dean Mckenzie and Andrew Barrowman acquired a 51 per cent stake from previous owner John Sim on Friday.

Sim, who has retained control of Stark’s Park and remains the next biggest shareholder, had warned the Kirkcaldy club faced f inancia l uncer ta int y without fresh investment.

Murray, who has been fully involved in discussions with the new group and will stay on as boss, is convinced Raith can look forward to an exciting future with the new men at the helm

But he insisted fans should not now expect a spending spree. He said: “I’m delighted the takeover is over the line. We’ve been talking as a group for weeks.

“I’m delighted for the players to finally know what they’re doing and get a little bit of structure in place.

“As exciting as it is, it’s going to be a lot of hard work as well. We’re doing a full refurbishment of the stand and then we have to go and recruit really wisely.

“We’ve not got pots of gold at the end of the rainbow.

“But we’re glad someone has seen an opportunity and is willing to give us their time and investment.”

Murray held discussions with his squad this week and expects news of a summer overhaul in the coming days.

He added: “There were some hard decisions to make on players and we had to deliver news to some guys that wasn’t brilliant and some good news to others.”
