Deviant offered cash for indecent images
A girls’ football coach set up fake online profiles to target youngsters and groomed one 14- year- old by giving her cash to send him explicit photographs.
Ex-soldier Christopher Sinclair, 41, was a volunteer coach for an under-15s team when he targeted one girl and bombarded her with messages from a variety of social media accounts for more than a year.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard how he used numerous profiles on Instagram and Snapchat to continue pestering the girl when she initially tried to block him.
The girl, who can’t be named for legal reasons, eventually agreed to send Sinclair – who used the name “picsandvidsbuyer” on one of his online accounts – some photos of herself. When she checked the name of the bank account she had been paid by, Sinclair – who claimed to have worked as a close protection officer after leaving the Army – was named as the account holder.
Factory health and safety adviser Sinclair, from Dundee, admitted grooming a girl, then 14, online from his former home in Arbroath between June 2021 and July 2022.
Fiscal depute Joanne Ritchie told the court how Sinclair had messaged the girl on Instagram and written: “Figure is insane, looking good, nice bum. If you get pics I would love to see them – maybe send you a little reward as a thankyou.”
In further messages, he wrote: “I’ll make you a deal – 5 pics for 50. You send the first 2, I’ll pay 50, and then you send the rest.”
When she blocked his account, Sinclair set up more accounts – craigedinburgh1234, edinburgh_ soldierboy and edinburgh9274 – and begged her to reply to him. He said: “I want to spoil you so bad.”
The girl, based in England, told him she wanted a £30 advance and he sent the money to her bank account.
The girl then sent him a faceless image she got from the internet. After paying, Sinclair realised it was fake.
Ms Ritchie added: “She received a further £50 from an account in the name Chris Sinclair. The next day she continued to receive messages from edinburgh9274 asking if she was free in the evening. She did not respond.”
Sheriff Tim Niven- Smith placed Sinclair, who listed his latest role online as “teaching compliance and developmental subjects such as food safety, health and safety”, on the Sex Offenders Register and allowed bail.
