Reds are Cherries picked

-

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United were booed off at Old Trafford yesterday – after crashing to a 3- 0 defeat to Bournemouth.

The Cherries went ahead in just five minutes as Dominic Solanke swept in after Lewis Cook had seized possession.

Solanke hit the goal frame before the interval but Philip Billing headed the visitors into a strong position after 68 minutes.

Marcos Senesi put the seal on a famous win – the Cherries’ first ever at Old Trafford – with another header five minutes later and the visitors thought they had claimed a fourth but were denied by VAR.

A key Champions League match against Bayern Munich and a league trip to Liverpool now follows for a Jekyl l and Hyde United team incapable of performing reliably.

“As a group, we have to improve,” ten Hag said. “That’s a fact. We have to get tougher, that we are ready for the game and from the start.

“I said on Friday, it can’t be in this league that you are not playing on the highest levels because you get killed.”

Sheffield United secured their first win of Chris Wilder’s second spell as they held on for a 1- 0 win at home over Brentford.

James McAtee scored – his first in the Premier League – with a superb long-range strike.

Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper saw his side earn a 1-1 draw at Wolves.

They took a 14th-minute lead when Harry Toffolo headed home but Wolves’ Matheus Cunha levelled.

Simon Adingra struck as Brighton denied Burnley at the Amex Stadium.

The Clarets took the lead just before the break when Wilson Odobert curled a shot into the top corner but Adingra made it 1-1.
