Out on his Owen for finest kid

-

THE two outstanding young Scottish talents this season in the Premiership are David Watson at Kilmarnock and Lennon Miller at Motherwell.

But when it comes to dishing out the Young Player of the

Year award, I can’t see past a Welshman winning it.

For me, Owen Beck at Dundee has been a stand-out performer since arriving on loan from Liverpool last summer.

At just 21 years old, I reckon he has been the best left-back in the top flight, ahead of anyone at the big clubs – including the Old Firm.

He’s had a major impact for Tony Docherty’s side and it will be interesting to see what happens next for Beck when he returns to Anfield in the summer.

Watson has been terrific for Killie – scoring some wonderful goals from midfield – and he’ll only improve under manager Derek McInnes.

While Miller, at just 17, could be anything he wants to be.

For someone so young to BECK Excelled on Dundee loan have the physicality and technical ability to play most weeks for Motherwell in the top flight is incredible.

They’ve got a real talent on their hands and Miller is someone I’m sure the big clubs are already looking at for the summer.

The fourth youngster on my shortlist would be Ross McCausland at Rangers.

He might not have enjoyed as many stand-out performances as the others but he’s still only 20.

In his first full season he became a regular in Philippe Clement’s side and played in some huge matches.

He has also forced his way into the Northern Ireland squad off the back of that so it has been an impressive debut campaign for the winger.

That shortlist has a lot of quality on it – but if I was handing out the prize then Beck would be getting his hands on the trophy.
