Singer hopes to work on duet
BRITS-NOMINATED pop star Caity Baser has said she would love to record a track with Lewis Capaldi after they bumped into each other in Los Angeles.
Caity, who rose to fame on social media, now counts the West Lothian songwriter as a pal.
She said: “Capaldi’s great. In LA, he sat me down and was wonderful.
“I’ve only met him once but we’ve been friends online for a while – he followed me two years ago. I’d love to do a little crossover emotional ballad from Caity and Capaldi.”
Since going viral on TikTok in 2020, Caity, who once stacked shelves at her local Co-op, has become the bold new voice in British pop with singles including X&Y and Pretty Boys.
Before fame came calling, Caity auditioned for TV talent show The Voice but was rejected.
She said: “I didn’t get it – then as soon as I’m blowing up on TikTok, they were like, ‘Oh, hi, would you like to come audition?’
“No, thank you… you had your chance, buddies.”
Caity also revealed she has banished bras on tour in defiance of cruel trolls who have tried to body-shame her.
The Gen Z singer said while some comments have left her in tears, she is proud of her curves. She added: “I had a day off last week and went online and there were these awful comments about my body and the way it looked in my outfits. I cried.
“I wear mesh playsuits every night as I have massive t*** and I can’t be wearing something restrictive.”
Backstage in her hometown of Southampton last week, she added: “Shut up! Yes, I’m bloated. Yes, that’s a bit of cellulite. Grow up!”
