Boyd My flower power inspiration.. but without the cardi

-

THE Met Gala is one of the biggest nights in the fashion calendar, when the stars turn out in an array of weird and wonderful creations to celebrate style and, let’s be honest, get great pics for the ’Gram.

It’s also the night we get to have a good old goss about their looks from the comfort of our beds in scabby old jammies. Oh the irony!

This year, the dress code and theme was the “Garden of Time”.

Think flowers but also, if you’ve seen the pictures, there were crazy shapes, lots of sheer fabric and, if you’re Kim Kardashian, a bobbly grey cardigan.

She had a stunning, silver metallic style gown, cinched in at the waist with a corset which made her middle look non-existent (too far for me – no need when she has such lovely curves). Then it looked like she had thrown a wee cosy cardi over to keep her arms warm.

It was a strange combo and I didn’t hate it but many did, commenting on how it needed a good old bobble remover.

Regardless, it got us talking, as did the likes of Rita Ora, who looked like she was wearing a nude catsuit and had walked into one of those streamer decorations you hang on a door at birthdays.

Lana Del Rey’s custom McQueen dress had a head piece akin to a mosquito net while Doja Cat wore a wet T-shirt dress. She looked like she had been to a foam party in Magaluf in the 90s and made the mistake of wearing a white dress.

I feel her pain having done the same. There were some gorgeous

looks too – for me, Phoebe Dynevor’s stunning, ethereal dress by Victoria Beckham and Gigi Hadid’s beautiful nod to old-school Hollywood glam in a giant black and white, floweradorned gown.

Anyway, I have been inspired. I’m honoured to have been invited to the Pride of Scotland Awards next week, which is always one of the most uplifting and emotional nights of the year and I want to look my best for such a special event.

I don’t have Victoria Beckham’s number to ask for a gown and I’m definitely not going half naked. But I have been inspired by all the florals and think I may have found the perfect dress on website Hire Street.

I’m praying it’s not too long but can’t wait to get glam and cheer on all the incredible winners who have done brilliant and selfless things.

I’ll have all the goss from the awards in my column in a couple of weeks but for now, I promise there won’t be a cardi or corset in sight.
