Spurs take the Micky as Burnley drop down

BURNLEY were relegated back to the Championsh­ip as Spurs kept their faint Champions League hopes alive with a 2-1 win.

Vincent Kompany’s men needed to win to have any chance of dodging the drop and took the lead in 25 minutes when Jacob Bruun Larsen fired home.

But Tottenham hit back through Pedro Porro’s thunderous strike and Ange Postecoglo­u’s men took the points when Micky van de Ven netted in 83 minutes.

The Aussie boss hailed his matchwinne­r and said: “Micky is at the forefront of an exciting bunch of newcomers. He’s had an outstandin­g year.”

Luton are also all but relegated after losing 3-1 to West Ham in David Moyes’ last home game as boss.

James Ward-Prowse, Tomas Soucek and George Earthy hit back after Sambi Lokonga’s opener.

Newcastle dropped points in the race for a Euro slot after being held to a 1-1 draw by Brighton.

Joel Veltman gave the Seagulls the lead but Sean Longstaff hit back.
