Spurs take the Micky as Burnley drop down
BURNLEY were relegated back to the Championship as Spurs kept their faint Champions League hopes alive with a 2-1 win.
Vincent Kompany’s men needed to win to have any chance of dodging the drop and took the lead in 25 minutes when Jacob Bruun Larsen fired home.
But Tottenham hit back through Pedro Porro’s thunderous strike and Ange Postecoglou’s men took the points when Micky van de Ven netted in 83 minutes.
The Aussie boss hailed his matchwinner and said: “Micky is at the forefront of an exciting bunch of newcomers. He’s had an outstanding year.”
Luton are also all but relegated after losing 3-1 to West Ham in David Moyes’ last home game as boss.
James Ward-Prowse, Tomas Soucek and George Earthy hit back after Sambi Lokonga’s opener.
Newcastle dropped points in the race for a Euro slot after being held to a 1-1 draw by Brighton.
