THE unknown singer plucked from obscurity to open Take That’s Th concert in Glasgow has released rel his first single.

Daniel D Rooney, 26, was playing covers cov in the bar of the Radisson Red Re near the Ovo Hydro when he was wa drafted in to replace Olly Murs, whose wh flight from London had been bee cancelled.

Daniel D was on stage in front of 14,000 fans just 20 minutes later, winning praise from Gary and thanks from Olly for saving the day.

He has now released his first single, Old Ways, on Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music.

Daniel, who wrote the single with his best friend turned manager Steff Corr, revealed he has kept in touch with Ross.

He said: “The story is all legit. A lot of people think it’s made up and

Ross is my manager, which isn’t true. Ross was in the restaurant having dinner with his family.

“Throughout the last few weeks we’ve been keeping in touch. He’s been great and is making sure I’m coping with all the craziness. “Now the single is out he’s going to hopefully help me with a little promotion, like when he’s on Lorraine [Kelly’s ITV show] he can mention it.

“I want to thank him for sticking his neck out for a guy he didn’t know, liking what I did in the bar and deciding to help.”

Ross is thrilled that his big gamble paid off. He said: “I love Daniel’s new single Old Ways. It shows off his wonderful talent as a singersong­writer.

“I’m so thrilled to have played a small part in bringing him to a bigger stage and letting people see just how good he is.”

Daniel said: “The story does feel like a cheesy Hollywood film. Maybe Netflix will get in touch.”
