Boyd We’re already the champs when it comes to support
AS I write this, I am on a train to London on the first leg of a journey to Munich for the Euros, Yes Sir, I Can Boogie blasting out of my headphones.
Now, don’t worry, STV’s Raman and Ronnie’s jobs are most definitely safe but the This Morning team asked me if I would go and be live on the show with the Tartan Army. How could I say no?! Or nein.
What a magical opportunity! OK, Friday’s result was a downer but what a buzz there is in the air for this tournament, the team and Scotland as a whole with people around the world getting behind the underdogs and cheering us on.
I love how invested we as a nation get in championing our lads and giving it our all in terms of support.
The stories of how people got to Munich were incredible: planes, tranes, automobiles, camper vans and and even on foot! That’s dedication. And cause for a lot of compedes.
The heart and pride in our team is unrivalled and it makes me so happy
to see a sea of tartan and Saltires taking over the streets of Germany right now.
What an honour it is for me to be the tiniest part in that, showcasing the best fans in the world live on TV. It’s also a little daunting but I know that Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary will love hearing from the Scots... after all, no Scotland, no party.
It’s a pinch-me moment getting to be on This Morning – a show that feels like it’s always been part of our lives, and something I’m so honoured to be a part of. Are you caught up in Euros fever? Have you, like me, bought the Saltire bunting and paper plates with the optimism of someone who thinks we might be able to progress and if so, have a party to celebrate?
Regardless of how we do, I think the cause for celebration is simply the passion and love we have for our team. And if Andy Robertson and the team can score a few goals along the way, all the better. Viel Glück boys!
