Diva should hit the high notes in Thirsk clash
MERESIDE DIVA (4.45) can strut her stuff in the Sunday Series at Thirsk.
Mezzo Soprano, who has an unbeaten record, will be all the rage for the seven-furlong fillies Handicap and definitely has strong claims.
But, at the forecast odds, Mereside Diva is worthy of a bet.
The four-year-old relished a step-up to this trip when winning at Haydock in May and, having been raised three pounds for that success, didn’t do a lot wrong when second at York three weeks ago.
Challengers Fiver Friday and Catherine Chroi are well known to Scottish punters with recent wins for both up here during good spells of form.
But Mereside Diva can be the one this evening for the David Barron outfit with Callum Rodriguez on board.
ALICE FAIRFAX
(3.45) has an excellent pedigree and has claims of winning the opener.
Kevin Ryan’s filly was fourth of 12 on debut in a Doncaster maiden a fortnight ago and natural progression from that run can see her go close.
Sir Michael Stoute wouldn’t have a bundle of runners at Thirsk so FOX LEGACY (5.15) is an interesting contender.
The Lope De Vega colt showed promise when second recently in a Leicester novice and goes up in trip for his handicap debut.
David Allan, who is a master of these Yorkshire tracks, has been booked for the ride and all the pieces are in place for a bold effort.
Doncaster are also in action today and CABELLEROSO (3.10) sets a pretty impressive standard in the juvenile contest having come second in a Chester novice on debut.
Hugo Palmer’s charge had no chance of beating a good winner that day on the Roodee and looks open to progress.
PROFITEER (4.40) is going up in trip for
Tim Easterby and he can make his presence felt after a decent last showing at Carlisle.
There are seven races at Salisbury and BEACH POINT (3.25) looks a solid challenger for the William Knight team.
The three-year-old opened his account at Doncaster then was a good second under a penalty at Lingfield five days later.
James Doyle has been booked for the ride and that is a big positive.
Chances are taken later in the meeting with PHOTON (5.00) for Roger Teal.
He was fourth at Chelmsford City last time out and has been running consistently well in defeat recently.
Teal has gone for the first-time cheekpieces and this might be the time to finally strike under Rossa Ryan.
PUTURHANDSTOGETHER (4.21) can have Joseph O’Brien clapping a win at Gowran.
CANDALA (3.05) can burn bright for Francis Graffard in the French Oaks at Chantilly.
