EVER since Pippa Middleton announced her engagement to James Matthews last summer, we’ve been looking forward to the society wedding of the year with bated breath.
And it didn’t disappoint. Pippa’s wedding was quintessentially English, and the bride’s dress was the icing on the cake.
Created by British designer Giles Deacon, the ivory silk cotton lace, delicate and pretty, complemented the classic silhouette.
Layers of organza and tulle beneath the skirt created a floorsweeping elegance, while the cap sleeves and keyhole back showed off enough skin to be alluring.
The full veil – by British milliner Stephen Jones – and ivory satin shoes by Manolo Blahnik completed the look perfectly.
As for the guests, the style was impeccable – Pippa’s sister, the Duchess of Cambridge, looked stunning in a 70s-inspired dress by Alexander McQueen, worn with her signature nude shoes.
The bride’s mother, Carole Middleton, was also chic in a Catherine Walker pale pink coat.

Princess Eugenie – cousin of Princes William and Harry – was there with boyfriend Jack Brooksbank. She was trendy but timeless in a navy fit-and-flare dress with cut-out shoulder detail and an Anya Hindmarch gold crisp packet clutch, which retails for £995.
And Donna Air, girlfriend of Pippa’s brother James, was set for the chilly British weather in a cream Emilia Wickstead coat.
Jeweller Claudia Bradby, wife of ITN presenter Tom, opted for a fashion-forward RIXO midi dress – though the black fedora was perhaps a slightly odd wedding choice – and it was difficult to decide whether the co-ordinated tartan trousers worn by two gentlemen were ghastly or genius.
But no matter what your thoughts on the grown-ups’ fashion at the wedding of the year, it’s safe to say Prince George and Princess Charlotte made an adorable pageboy and bridesmaid in their gorgeous Pepa & Co outfits.
