BAGGIES AND VILLA IN FOR RED CARRICK

- BY STEVE BATES BY STEVE STAMMERS

MICHAEL CARRICK’S isolation at Manchester United has alerted clubs looking for January reinforcements.

The 36-year-old former England midfielder has seen his final playing year at Old Trafford hit the buffers after playing just one game all season, against Burton in the Carabao Cup.

That’s not how Carrick (above) envisaged his final campaign at the club and it’s left him frustrated, especially after picking up an injury which has kept him sidelined recently.

Carrick is set to return from injury next week and wants more game time — although it’s believed he has no thoughts of leaving the club.

That hasn’t stopped Aston Villa, West Brom and Leicester keeping a close eye on just how much United involvement he has when he returns fit. CHELSEA want Danny Rose and Alex Sandro in the winter window.

Boss Antonio Conte (below) is concerned about a shortage of quality as Chelsea go for glory in the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

He badly wants a left-back but would have to spend around £50million to prise Rose from Spurs and a similar sum to get Sandro from Juventus.
