FRIENDS star Matthew Perry has been in hospital for three months, he revealed yesterday.

The actor, 49, told of his health battle after major abdominal surgery earlier this year.

“Three months in a hospital bed. Check,” he tweeted on Saturday.

The news sparked a flood of support from his 1.18 million followers, many posting Friends memes and quotes from his show character, Chandler Bing.

The details of his condition are unknown but it is believed to be linked to an op to repair a gastro-intestinal perforation – a hole in the stomach, small intestine or large bowel – in August.

At the time of the op, done in LA, his rep thanked fans for their support, adding: “He is grateful and asks for continued privacy as he heals.” It is the latest health scare for the star, who has battled drug and alcohol addiction.

Perry got hooked on prescription painkillers and booze after a 1997 jet ski accident. And he admitted arriving at the Friends set hung-over or with withdrawal symptoms in its 1990s heydey.

He later said: “I had a big problem with pills and alcohol, I couldn’t stop.”

Perry spent time in and out of rehab but has now been sober for 17 years.
