referee Lee Tavinder thought not.

But just when it seemed it was only a matter of time before the home side broke the deadlock, they were hit with a sucker-punch.

Eamon Scannell showed great composure to pick out Donnelly at the back post, and he had the easiest of tasks nodding in from close-range.

Nine minutes before the interval Glenavon were gifted a great chance to level when sub Conall McCrandles tripped Caolan Marron in the box. But ex-Warrenpoint striker fluffed his lines and McCarey barley had to move to save it.

Murray made up for his blunder on 43 minutes however, when he found the net from close range after Mark Sykes’ shot across goal deflected off Danny Wallace.

Two minutes after the restart ‘Point goal-scorer Donnelly pounced on a mishit shot by Scannell but was denied by the post before half-time sub Fra McCaffrey found himself one-on-one with Tuffey but fired straight at the ex-Northern Ireland keeper’s legs.

Scannell reacted quickest to the rebound but Tuffey saved again.
