Should I be watering my plants before a frost?

Guy, via email

DAVID: Watering plants in advance of a predicted frost is a good idea. Providing them with water will let them get the moisture they need, which they would find hard to do in frosty conditions. Make sure you do not overwater, as this may lead to waterlogging and harm the plant when the frost comes. Make sure pots have drainage holes or you will risk them cracking as the water inside freezes.
