The realistic first-person shooter, based on the Second World War, has been given a makeover.

Last time around we were in the First World War but the emphasis is now much more on squads and tactical gameplay.

Bringing in fully automatic weapons doesn’t change the flow of combat as much as you’d think.

That’s because the dynamic is transformed by a new recoil system and the absence of any recon or spotters.

What we’re left with is a more polished Battlefield, with new animations, where anyone can revive a squadmate regardless of class. When it comes to class, medics can revive allies quicker, and can revive anyone on their side of the battlefield.

Support is the most versatile as players can get to grips with shotguns, LMGs and the priceless FG-42.

Battlefield V is facing tough competition this winter – but should definitely be on your Christmas list.
