Fuel bills rise ‘£118 a year despite cap’
ENERGY bills are set to soar by £118 a year for millions despite new price controls, say experts.
Prices will be capped at £1,137 a year for typical dual fuel customers on direct debit from January 1, saving them up to £84.
But industry regulators are expected to raise the cap next spring due to soaring energy costs.
Energyhelpline.com says bills will rise 10.4 per cent to £1,255 a year from April.
The website’s Mark Todd said: “The price cap is pushing down energy bills this winter. However, come April, a wave of price rises is set to wipe out all the gains and more.
“The only way out of this tsunami for householders is to switch. This price cap is not a full solution to expensive energy bills.”
