How to keep your kid safe online
1. Use parental controls on home broadband and any internet device, including your child’s mobile. Find out how at your broadband or mobile network provider’s website. Start a safe search in Google by going to safety.google. 2. Use safe search engines such as kids-search.com.
3. Age ratings on ‘IT WILL GET WORSE’ Professor Wilson games, apps and films are good guides to suitability. The minimum age for networking sites, including Instagram, is 13.
4. Tell kids anything they upload, email or message could stay around forever online. 5. Reach a deal about where they can use the net and for how long, also the sites they can visit and type of info they share. For more details see internetmatters.org.
