‘Lure for foreign criminals’ warning in no-deal spectre
BRITAIN will become a magnet for foreign gangsters if it crashes out of the EU with no deal.
Crooks know that the European Arrest Warrant would no longer apply without a Brexit agreement, making extradition much harder.
The warning comes from the House of Commons Library in a 212-page report to MPs in advance of Tuesday’s big vote.
It quotes Metropolitan Police Deputy Assistant Commissioner Richard Martin as saying: “Criminal groups may already be thinking that if certain powers do not exist there are opportunities for them to operate here.”
The report also warns that British doctors may be unable to work in Europe and that there could be gridlock in the southeast because of customs delays.
On the plus side the UK would become an “independent coastal state”, giving fishermen the run of catches for 200 miles.
