PEP READY TO PHONE A FRIEND... SOLSKJAER

- BY SIMON MULLOCK

PEP GUARDIOLA joked he is ready to ask Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for a helping hand after promising Manchester City will continue to go full power in their quest for the Quadruple.

City are fighting for Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup glory.

Table-topping Liverpool have sacrificed the domestic knock-out competitions in a bid to win their first title for 29 years. And while Guardiola (right) admits that end-of-season fixture congestion could give Jurgen Klopp a titlerace advantage, he is refusing to compromise on his bid to make history.

The Spaniard said: “It is what it is. Of course, I am a little bit concerned, but what can we do?

“We will see what the League decides. That is all I can say. Does it give Liverpool an advantage? Maybe. But perhaps if you play every few days then everyone is in rhythm and everyone is focused.

“Sometimes if you have a week or 10 days off, then the rhythm might be wrong.

“When you win games and get to the quarterfinals and semi-finals of competitions there is huge excitement.

“If we go out it is because the other side are better — because we are not going to drop any of the competitions.” Both City and Liverpool still have to travel to Old Trafford to face a team invigorated by Solskjaer.

Guardiola said: “If Liverpool are four points in front going there and United are 10 or 12 points behind us, what do you think I am going to want before that game?

“I think United, in their history, they can win it. But I don’t have the telephone number for Solskjaer. Maybe I am going to ask him for it.”
