Ole’s the special one who causes a titter on Twitter

- EXCLUSIVE By SIMON MULLOCK

@MullockSMirror OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER is the people’s choice to become the permanent Manchester United boss.

Solskjaer has made history by becoming the first United boss to win the first seven games of his reign, since succeeding Jose Mourinho on a temporary basis just a month ago.

And Twitter statistics suggest the 45-year-old Norwegian has been winning friends and influencing people as he looks to convince United’s owners that he should be given the job on a long-term basis.

According to a survey conducted by online gaming firm BetVictor, Solskjaer is already the fourth most talked about Premier League manager on Twitter this season.

And when it comes to Tweets of a “positive sentiment”, the former striker is out on his own, with a rating close to 90 per cent, making him No.1.

The figures suggest that Solskjaer is impressing on his audition to be handed a permanent contract at the end of the season.

Ahead of United’s home clash with Brighton at Old Trafford yesterday, Solskjaer had generated a total of 628,053 Tweets in his few weeks at the helm.

Only Mourinho, Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp and Maurizio Sarri of Chelsea have accounted for more Twitter activity this season.

And just to illustrate how United dominate the football conversation on social media, Mourinho’s total of almost 2.4million Tweets, up until he was sacked, is an incredible 1.6m more than secondplaced Klopp (below).

The data was pulled directly from Twitter from the start of the Premier League season up to January 14.

That information was then analysed using artificial intelligence to determine audience sentiment and emotion.

Solskjaer’s “positive sentiment” rating of almost 90 per cent put him ahead of Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, who is in second place, with Southampton’s

Ralph Hasenhuttl, Nuno Espirito Santo, of Wolves, and Klopp taking up the next three positions.

Hasenhuttl, the Austrian who succeeded Mark Hughes as St Mary’s manager in early December, comes out on top when it comes to Tweets indicating “joy”.

When it comes to “negative sentiment”, Hughes leads the way on 63.3 per cent, with Burnley’s Sean Dyche, Marco Silva of Everton and Newcastle’s Rafa Benitez behind.
