Lead blown in battle at basement

his way into the centre, arriving on cue to slip another breaking ball past keeper Sean O’Neill.
Having worked so hard for their lead in the first half, Ards then came up with a moment of real class to double it in the 54th minute.
Sean Ward was penalised for a handball and former Crues stalwart Craig McClean stepped forward from leftback to bend a cracking free-kick over the wall and into the top corner.
The visitors were rattled but responded in the right way and, 69 minutes in, Caddell showed he’d learned from his error in the first half, making no mistake this time after getting on the end of another Owens knockdown to make it 2-1.
That goal changed the momentum of the game completely as Crusaders really began to turn up the heat. Ards looked resolute, however, and it took something special to crack them open again. There appeared to be little danger when Ronan Hale controlled a loose ball 25-yards out but the striker lashed home a brilliant equaliser with just seven minutes left to play.
Crues sub David Cushley then thought he’d won it at the death when he flashed a header at goal but Johnston pulled off a brilliant save.
