A silver Mercedes raced towards ambassador Natalia Galibarenko’s parked car, forcing police to shoot at the driver through the window.
A man in his 40s was arrested following the drama in the exclusive Holland Park area. He was uninjured but taken to hospital as a precaution.
Witnesses claim as many as 10 shots rang out as firearms officers tried to stop the attack before a cordon was thrown up around the scene.
Embassy spokesman Denys Sienik said the car slammed into the ambassador’s vehicle as it sat parked outside.
When the driver was blocked by cops, it is thought he first drove at them – then tried to evade them by going into reverse and hit the official car again.
Mr Sienik added: “The culprit was apprehended. None of the embassy staff were injured. Police are investigating the suspect’s identity and motive.”
Police sealed off a street near the embassy after the incident just before 10am yesterday. Scotland Yard revealed that a Taser had also been used in a bid ARRESTED Suspect lies on ground surrounded by cops

A neighbour who witnessed the arrest believed the suspect reversed into the ambassador’s motor while backing away from an oncoming police car.
Emma Slatter, who is Visa’s legal chief, watched the scene unfold with her banker partner David Hinsley.
She said: “We could see two police cars at this end of the road and one about half way down. It seemed like he was wanting to move away from being boxed in and collided backwards.”
The couple, both in their 50s, instinctively ducked away from the window when the shooting started.
