JOS BUTTLER smashed 89 off 43 balls to help the Rajasthan Royals to a four-wicket IPL win over the Mumbai Indians.

The England vice-captain (above) racked up 28 of his runs in an explosive 13th over in Mumbai, with four fours and two sixes.

However, Buttler’s attempt at a seventh successive boundary – when the Royals needed 41 off 41 balls for victory – was sliced to Suryakumar Yadav off a Rahul Chahar delivery, denying him the chance of a century that has proved elusive. His top IPL score stands at an unbeaten 95 last season.

Buttler’s dismissal preceded a torrid spell that saw the Royals, chasing 188 FOUR-TIME world champion Sebastian Vettel has suggested he could quit the sport when his £36million-ayear Ferrari contract expires next season.
