Pope Francis: Abortion like hiring hitman

Sunday Mirror (Northern Ireland) - - News - BY KAREN ROCKETT

POPE Francis yesterday said abortion can never be condoned – and compared it to hiring a hitman.

The Pontiff, 82, said even when a foetus is “gravely sick or malformed” it should not be aborted.

He told delegates at an anti-abortion conference at the Vatican: “Is it licit to throw away a life to resolve a problem?

“Is it licit to hire a hitman to resolve a problem?”

Francis criticised pre-natal testing, saying a human being is “never incompatible with life.”

The Pope has expressed sympathy for women who have abortions and made it easier for them to be “forgiven.”

But he has urged doctors and priests to support families to carry such pregnancies to term.
