Evans and pals booted out of pub in barmaid ‘sexism’ storm

- EXCLUSIVE BY JANINE YAQOOB

CHRIS Evans and a crowd of pals including ex-England footballer Ray Parlour were thrown out of a pub after a barmaid allegedly complained about a sexist remark.

Virgin breakfast host Evans was out with talkSPORT presenters Alan Brazil, Mike Parry and former Arsenal man Parlour toasting their radio success.

The group of up to 20 people were asked to leave The Wheatsheaf in South London’s Borough Market after it was claimed an inappropriate comment was made towards a female member of staff.

One eyewitness said: “Everyone was in good spirits, clearly celebrating.

“Then one of the male members of the group made a sexist remark to the barmaid, who reported it back to her

Sources say Evans, 53, wasn’t aware of the alleged remark as he was sitting in another area of the bar.

There is no suggestion that ex-Scotland and Ipswich Town player Brazil, 59, journalist Parry, 64, or 46-year-old Parlour were at fault in any way in the incident.

The 180-year-old pub where the row took place was targeted in the 2017 London Bridge terror attacks.

Staff and the pub company refused to comment.

But a source said: “There are no hard feelings and the group have been told they’re welcome back at the pub.”

Pub-mad Evans himself owned three boozers at one stage. When he shot to fame in the 1990s he was frequently pictured getting into mischief at pubs with celeb pals like Paul Gascoigne and Danny Baker.

Evans quit his Radio 2 show after revelations about the pay of BBC stars and was replaced by Zoe Ball.
