SPEED KINGS WOOD AND ARCHER TO SPOOK PAKISTAN
ENGLAND are preparing to test Pakistan with 90mph chin music by unleashing speed twins Jofra Archer and Mark Wood.
Pakistan crumbled to a seven-wicket defeat against the West Indies on Friday after their batsmen were ambushed by the Caribbean heavy artillery.
And when they return to Trent Bridge tomorrow, England captain Eoin Morgan is likely to test their appetite for a second helping of pace.
Archer, who has looked a superstar in the making since he qualified to play for England earlier this year, and sidekick Wood (right) – who sat out Thursday’s opener with South Africa – could forge the quickest double act here.
England batting coach Graham Thorpe said: “Will hostile bowling be a feature? We could do – we like to think we have a few bases covered, and it’s good to have quick bowlers in your team.
“We saw West Indies go hard at Pakistan and every team has to work out what’s coming up in the next game.
“The boys try to cover all bases in practice – Jofra and Woody bowled flat-out this morning”
