Riaz: Bouncers don’t scare our team

Sunday Mirror (Northern Ireland) - - Sport - BY TOM HOPKINSON

PAKISTAN paceman Wahab Riaz has warned England’s quicks not to buy into the belief that his team-mates can’t handle the short stuff.

Oshane Thomas, Andre Russell and Jason Holder peppered Pakistan with bouncers at Trent Bridge on Friday.

And it worked a treat as Sarfaraz Ahmad’s side were skittled for just 105 inside 22 of their 50 overs.

Eoin Morgan and his pace bowlers Jofra Archer, Chris Woakes and Liam Plunkett face Pakistan tomorrow.

But Wahab said: “I wouldn’t say we struggle against short bowling.

“If anyone wants to bowl us bouncers, we are ready for that.”
