Nude French miss takes a Liberty in the fountain

- By Karen Rockett

NOT since Anita Ekberg took a dip in Rome’s Trevi Fountain for the film La Dolce Vita has Italy got in such a tizz about a woman getting wet and wild.

A French tourist spotted skinny-dipping in a fountain in Milan’s Piazza Liberty was reported by affronted locals. “I didn’t think it was forbidden,” protested the twentysomething mademoiselle, who faces charges of public obscenity.

Bathing in historic fountains is strictly forbidden and can lead to fines of several hundred euros.

She may have been had better luck on a staycation — France is the world’s leading nudist destination, with 3.5 million regular practitioners a year.

THE top 10 bizarre requests from Uber Eats fans in America include burnt bacon, 13 packs of ranch dressing with one meal and all parts of a sandwich separate so the client could assemble it. My own favourite is the woman who wanted her boyfriend’s birthday doughnuts delivered to the tune of Africa by Toto — but only the chorus.

THIS ornate fortress made of sand has broken the Guinness World Record for the world’s tallest sandcastle. The towering 58ft structure contains 11,000 tons of sand and broke the old record by more than 3ft at a Sand Sculpture Festival on the German island of Rügen.

A BANK had to mobilise all of its 26 staff when a shopkeeper turned up with 20 giant water bottles full of coins to be counted for the £17,000 deposit on a house in Jinan, China. He wouldn’t have got away with it here — UK banks won’t sort large amounts of mixed change.

ANANTA Burman’s girlfriend Lipika cut all contact with him after eight years together when her parents told her to marry another suitor.

So, heartbroken, he began a hunger strike outside her home in Dhupguri, India. He would not budge and a crowd took his side.

It all paid off with a change of heart — and Lipika is to wed him instead.

A TRAFFIC cop tried to woo a female driver he had stopped by writing out a ticket for “excessive beauty on a public road” and adding “I love you” for good measure. But she posted it on social media and his bosses in Paysandú, Uruguay, got to know. Needless to say his chat-up line failed and he now faces losing his job.

P.S.

THE Sámi of Lapland — reindeer herders, ice fishers and Europe’s only indigenous people — are in the Conifa European Football Cup this week. For a separate women’s five-a-side, the Sámi team will be in traditional dresses. The goalie even catches the ball in her skirt hem. Love to see Jordan Pickford try that...
