DERRY got their All-Ireland SFC Qualifier campaign off to an impressive start with a 4-16 to 0-10 win over Wexford at Innovate Wexford Park yesterday.

A quartet of goals in a 19-minute spell in the first half set the Oak Leafers on their way, with Shane McGuigan (1-4), Ryan Bell (1-3); Benny Heron (1-2) and Enda Lynn (1-1) rattling the host’s net.

Leading 4-5 to 0-5 at half-time, Derry continued to press hard in a game where Wexford had eight different scorers.

Ryan O’Rourke scored 0-7 as fellow Division 4 League finalists LEITRIM claimed a slender 0-15 to 0-13 win over WICKLOW at Avantcard Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada.

The sides were tied 0-7 apiece at the break and Leitrim built on a strong third quarter.

OFFALY delivered a 1-21 to 1-11 win over LONDON at Bord na Mona O’Connor Park. A 51st minute Ruairi McNamee goal provided the springboard for victory as the visitors only managed one point in the closing 15 minutes, with Bernard Allen finishing with 11 points.

Offaly led by 0-10 to 1-3 at half-time, with Conor Doran scoring six points overall for London, who found the net through Killian Butler (1-1) after just six minutes.

LOUTH keeper Fergal Sheeky and Declan Byrne saw red as ANTRIM claimed a 2-16 to 1-11 win over the Wee County last night in Drogheda.

The hosts went 15 minutes without scoring at one stage in the first half, as Antrim led by 2-5 to 1-7 thanks to Ryan Murray’s third point.

The Saffrons found the net twice through Matthew Fitzpatrick, after Louth built up an early 1-5 to 0-2 lead thanks to an Andy McDonnell goal.
