TRENT ALEXANDERARNOLD believes that England can “do a Liverpool” by bouncing back from disappointment to conquer Europe.

When still just a teenager, Alexander-Arnold was part of the team that lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in the 2018 final of the

Champions League.

Then just 12 months later, he was back playing a vital part in the 2-0 win over Spurs that earned Liverpool success in the competition for the sixth time.

Five days later there was something of a come-down, when he sat helplessly on the touchline and saw England throw away an early lead to lose to Holland in the UEFA Nations League semi-final in Guimaraes.

He will be back in the side this afternoon for the third/ fourth play-off match against Switzerland desperate for a medal, but Alexander-Arnold (below) is also looking towards next summer’s Euro 2020 conclusion.

“It is important for us to look forward to the

Switzerland game,” he said. “We have still got another medal to look forward to.

“When you go through a season and then end up losing, it means everything.

But at the end of the day it is still the same principle and you have got to bounce back. “There are definitely similarities between England and Liverpool, even to the fact they are both young and exciting and only going to get better with time.

“At this moment we are just trying to focus on ourselves and show that we are ready for next year and the Euros.”
