Jail for ar­son gang nailed by Lu­cozade

A LU­COZADE bot­tle used by a petrol bomb gang led to four men be­ing jailed – af­ter an ar­son­ist’s DNA was found on the spout.

The bot­tle, which had con­tained petrol, was found out­side a torched house in Leigh, Wi­gan.

A gran in her 60s suf­fered life-chang­ing in­juries in the blaze.

It came two days af­ter an­other ar­son at­tack in Huy­ton, Mersey­side.

Jake Hignett, 22, An­drew Bam­ford, 37, Zana Ali, 35, and Neil Stan­ton, 41, ad­mit­ted ar­son and were each jailed at Manch­ester Crown Court for be­tween eight and 16 years.

Det Chief Insp Stu­art Wilkin­son said the gang’s “bru­tal­ity knew no bounds”, adding: “Peo­ple’s lives and homes were de­stroyed in th­ese fires.”
