Flop Boris gets vote of no confidence

- EXCLUSIVE BY KEIR MUDIE Deputy Political Editor

TWO-thirds of voters believe Boris Johnson will do a bad job of representing Britain on the world stage.

An exclusive poll – carried out after the PM hopeful failed to stand up to Donald Trump over the UK ambassador fiasco – even reveals 47 per cent of Tory supporters think he’ll mess up, as well as 43 per cent of Leave voters. And there is no age group, social grade or region that believes he’ll cut it.

In the North, more than two-thirds gave him the thumbsdown as a world statesman, while the result was roughly the same with working-class voters.

The polling was carried out by YouGov for Hope Not Hate and Best For Britain campaigners. Best for Britain supporter David Lammy MP said:

“He has no credibility left and zero legitimacy to make the biggest political decision of a generation. It is vital the public, not Johnson, is allowed the have the final say on Brexit.”

Tory Party members are choosing the new PM. The result will be announced on July 23.

Let me be clear. I don’t believe Jeremy Corbyn is anti-Semitic.

I do think his hostility to Israel and support for Palestine leads to unfortunate language.

That encourages others in the party to conflate Jews and Israelis as interchangeable and anti-Semitic words and images can result.

If even a quarter of Wednesday’s devastating BBC Panorama was true, the Labour Party has failed the Jewish community dismally.

I have toured Israel twice as a guest of the Israeli government. I love the country and the people.

PLIGHT

Its bullish aggressiveness comes from being surrounded by enemies – Iran, Iraq, Syria, Hezbollah in Lebanon.

It’s like living on a housing estate where all your neighbours want to hurl bricks through your windows.

The Israelis took me into Palestine.

I returned with a burning sense of injustice at the Palestinians’ plight. Israel treats them abominably.

There. I can say all that without being antiSemitic.
