Sectarian attack on ill pensioners

Sunday Mirror (Northern Ireland) - - News - BY SARAH SCOTT

TWO frail pensioners have been targeted in a sectarian attack on their home.

The couple, who are aged 79 and 76, were in their kitchen in Castledawson, Co Derry, on Friday when a rock was thrown through the bedroom with a note attached.

Their daughter told the Mirror: “My father has secondary cancer and my mum has such poor mobility that she cannot get out. They are shocked and do not want to stay in their home.”

The DUP’s Rev William McCrea told the BBC it was “a brutal sectarian attack”. He added: “The elderly couple were at home and a boulder was thrown through the window. They’re an elderly couple and are really shaken.”
