Stars step up to break long dance record

SINGERS As­ton Mer­ry­gold and Kim­berly Wy­att yes­ter­day helped to set a world record for the long­est char­ity dance marathon.

Ex-JLS star As­ton, 31, and for­mer Pussy­cat Doll Kim­berly, 37, led 5,000 jivers who broke the Guin­ness record of 25 hours and two min­utes.

The danc­ing at Wem­b­ley sta­dium, north Lon­don, be­gan at 8am on Fri­day.

The ef­fort raised money for Can­cer Re­search UK, Bri­tish Heart Foun­da­tion and Di­a­betes UK.

As­ton said: “It’s been amaz­ing to see peo­ple travel from all over the coun­try and unite on the dance floor in sup­port of such im­por­tant causes.”

The bop­ping was part of a week­end of dance events at thou­sands of Tesco stores to aid the char­i­ties.
