OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER predicted a huge Manchester United future for Mason Greenwood after his stunning match-winner against Inter Milan.

On the day United rejected a bid by the Italians for Romelu Lukaku, teenager Greenwood proved he’s a star in the making.

And he’s heading for a first team place in the Premier

League opener against Chelsea on August 11.

The 17-year-old scored his second goal in successive tour games, breaking the deadlock for a 1-0 win against Antonio Conte’s Serie A stars with a spectacular 76th minute strike.

And Solskjaer compared his potential to old team-mate Ryan Giggs, who made his debut at the same age and went on to become an Old Trafford legend and record 13-time Premier league winner.

Greenwood beat his man before drilling a left-foot shot past Samir Handanovic just 12 minutes after coming on amid a raft of second half substitutions.

Solskjaer said: “The kid’s only 17 and he’s learning every day, training with these boys. He’s been with us the last few months and

he’s grown in confidence and stature. When you have players who perform, it’s difficult to keep them out. But we’ve got to keep our feet on the ground with him as well.

“We know that he’s only 17 and there will be ups and downs.

“At the moment he’s fine. He reminds me a little bit about the Giggsy story. You can’t really send him on loan. For me he’s ready to be in the squad.”

Young defender Axel Tuanzebe also impressed as United kept their third successive clean sheet and maintained their 100 per cent pre-season winning run.

Solskjaer added: “Today was a test for him, playing against different opposition. He didn’t play against Leeds because we know he can play at that level.

“Now he’s shown he’s very capable at this level. Axel’s going to be the future of this club.”

United started and finished strongly against Inter in high humidity – a sure sign Solskjaer’s focus on fitness is paying off.

The Norwegian fielded his strongest attacking line-up of the tour to Asia so far, with David De Gea also returning in goal.

But the night belonged to Greenwood – and with United confident as they head to a Shanghai showdown with Tottenham it could be the first of many triumphs for the teenager.
