Corrie Sal: I woke up in bed with Suranne

With no memory of night before she feared it was a man

-

It’s not strange to find a random person in your bed in the soaps.

But Sally Lindsay says she encountered it in real life when she unexpectedly woke up beside someone else.

She was relieved to discover it was none other than Coronation Street pal

Suranne Jones and not a random bloke. “I remember going to an awards years ago,” recalls Sally, 46. “I woke up and next to me there was this shock of dark hair.

“I was like, ‘Oh my God, what have I done?’ Anyway it was Suranne. We had forgot which room we were in. We had an adjoining room.

“For like 10 minutes I thought it was a bloke and I had to get him out!”

The pair became good friends on the set of Corrie, Sally playing Shelley Unwin and Suranne Karen McDonald. Sally left in 2006 and Suranne, 41, in 2004.

Suranne has gone on to become one of the biggest names in telly after appearing in hit shows Doctor Foster and Gentleman Jack.

Sally is about to feature in a new Channel 5 series, Cold Call, which starts on November 18.

She plays June Clarke, who falls victim to fraud and, regardless of the consequences, she is determined that she will get to the bottom of the criminal enterprise that targeted her. The mum of two also reveals how she once sent an email saying a new comedy was total rubbish – to the writer who penned the script.

“When my agent said, ‘You have got to get on email’ in the late 90s, I said, ‘I don’t need it’. Anyway, I did not really know how to work it.

“Basically, my agent sent me through this script. I read it and emailed back, ‘Oh my God it’s f***ing diabolical.’ Send. I sent it to my agent and the writer. It was for a sitcom. I always think about that poor writer.”

Shall we call her Long Cruel Sally?
