“It was great fun,” says Joe. “Obviously he won’t be doing that this year because of the
pandemic. “He’ll no doubt be at home, watching a bit of telly and having a whisky. I’ll celebrate with him when we can.
“You meet a lot of people in this game, but you don’t make a lot of friends, because you leave them behind and go from one job to another.
“But we’ve stayed mates for the last 30-odd years – and I love him.”
A DEPUTY mayor has stood down after appearing to throw a garden party at the peak of lockdown rules.
Lynnie Hinnigan is being investigated after video emerged on social media of at least 12 people at her Liverpool home.
The Labour councillor said guests just dropped off gifts as a surprise for her 50th birthday, organised by her daughter.
She said: “I really wasn’t aware it was happening, it was genuinely a surprise.
“Many other families in our city have struggled throughout this period.
“I am sorry if this has hurt anyone as it was never mine or my daughter’s intention.”
