LIKE every parent juggling work with raising a family, Hollywood star Kate Hudson has good days and bad.

But the mum-of-three reckons her kids keep her grounded, and said: “They make me a better human being, I think… and a very good therapist.”

The 42-year-old You, Me and Dupree star has children aged 17, 10 and two.

When asked who helps her overcome her demons, Kate said: “My kids. They test my inner demon every day… but my family keeps me grounded and focused.”

Kate, who lives in Los Angeles, regularly posts snaps of her brood on social media.

Her eldest son, Ryder, is from her marriage to Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson while second son Bingham is from her threeyear engagement to Muse star Matt Bellamy.

And in October 2018, Kate gave birth to daughter Rani, whose dad is musician and record company owner, Danny Fujikawa.

Kate never knew her own father, musician Bill Hudson, and once described their relationship as “a 41-year-old issue”.

She was raised by her mum, actress Goldie Hawn, and her long-term partner and fellow actor, Kurt Russell. Kate said: “I had personal struggles or familial situations that were challenging.

“[They] kind of prepared me for my future and my success. I had a lot of personal trauma I never really allowed myself to be OK about, or recognise as being traumatic.

“I’d probably tell my younger self, ‘It’s OK that you’re hurting… you’re OK’.

“Maybe that would have softened some things in my life a bit along the way. I’d give myself permission to give myself a big hug.”

Kate recently joined the cast of Apple TV+ show Truth Be Told, which explores the US obsession with true crime podcasts.

In the series, she plays lifestyle guru Micah Keith alongside Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer who appears as investigative reporter-turnedpodcaster Poppy.

Kate said of working with Octavia: “I feel like we’ve had about five past lives together.

“We’d met during the awards circuit and things but never really spent any time together. It was just an immediate connection – we got really lucky with that. It was nice.”
