PM must go now to end the paralysis

- ANNELIESE DODDS LABOUR PARTY CHAIR

The public are owed the truth – and it is in Boris Johnson’s hands to offer it.

Yet day after day the Prime Minister is putting the country second to his own interests.

He spends time and energy mopping up the chaos he has created, paralysing Government and letting the public down.

It’s farcical that Cabinet Office resource is being used to find out if Johnson went to a party.

And it’s preposterous that the Met are having to investigate potential criminal behaviour at the heart of Government. Sue Gray’s report must by published in full, as soon as possible.

Because we have a PM without honesty and integrity, paralysed by his desperate attempts to save his own skin.

A rotten culture runs through this Conservative Party.

Cabinet members defend the indefensible, yet having nothing to say on the cost of living crisis.

This is unforgiveable when millions of hard-working families are worried about paying their bills, the cost of filling up their car, the price of the weekly shop.

The Conservatives are too busy saving one man’s job to help. It’s been left to

Labour to put the people first, with a fully costed plan to shave £200 off energy bills for most – and up to £600 for those in more desperate need.

We’d pay for this with a windfall tax on North Sea oil and gas companies making whopping profits out of this crisis.

The public don’t need to wait for an investigation into Boris Johnson. They already know he’s unfit for office and his Government is mired in sleaze. The PM should come clean and resign, so the Government can get on with helping those who need it.
