Cool for (school) coats
Some comfy, cosy cover-ups for your young scholars..
So I’m back after two weeks off. Two very-much-needed two weeks off. And I am both delighted and disgusted to say I did very little in these 14 days, and I enjoyed every single one of them. Needless to say, the majority of them were spent with my little girl as we had lots of fun together before she goes back to school next week. She is starting P2 and I am finding it a lot harder than I did this time last year.
I suppose it’s because she was still looked and acted like my little baby. It also helped that the P1s entered and left at a different gate. This year, she is in with all the other classes, my little baby mixing with all the big boys and girls and they will ni doubt have a big influence on her losing her “babyness”.
I know it won’t be long before she doesn’t want to hold my hand anymore. When she wants to spend all her free time with her friends instead of with me. When she no longer comes running to me when she falls and hurts herself. She will have to be big and brave in front of the others, and that will eventually be how it is outside of the school gates too.
This week we went on our back to school shopping trip – something which will be a ritual no doubt as the years roll in.
She hasn’t grown too much over the past few months so all she only needed a new coat. Of course, she ended up getting a lot more (shoes, bag, trainers, vests, unicorn hairband).
We had so much fun in the changing rooms as she tried on all the different coats she liked and we both giggled like, well, schoolgirls. It also occurred to me that there is no reason at all I should be feeling sad, as while she soon won’t be a baby, she will soon be my big, brave best friend and we will hopefully share many more changing room giggles in the future. In the meantime, here are a few cool coats we came across on our travels...
