Louisey does it.. for Peacocks

Singer keeps her cool with handpicked edit for high street store

-

Iofficially declared myself old this week. It happened when I was checking out a music festival which is taking place in the summer. I literally never heard of ONE act. NOT ONE. I remember when I was going to such a music event in my 20s and an older member of my family said the exact same thing to me when I told them who I was going to see play.

And I remember saying to myself at the time, “Wow, no way will I ever be like them. I will always keep on top such important things”. Yeah, turns out I’m exactly like them.

So I find myself getting excited, and comforted, when I hear about all the 80s, 90s and Noughties bands and singers reforming and making a comeback.

Bands like All Saints, Spice Girls, Blue, Steps, and yes, even S Club 7!!!

And I am also comforted by the fact that I have aged alongside these pop stars.

When I see them performing, I see myself. The same definitely can not be said of the Dua Lipas, the Taylor Swifts, the Lizzos and the like. I simpy can’t relate to them at all because I am, simply, too old to. But that is totally fine. And I am totally fine with that. It is just a part of life.

Another thing which I find comfort in is seeing how the female singers of my generation dress, and knowing that they are still representative of my style.

The late 90s and early 00s was a great time for girls, and there was a real shift in how we dressed. It went from cute to cool thanks to the likes of the Appleton sisters and co.

Another chick whose style I really digged (haha, see I am so old!) was singer Louise.

She always nailed her edgy girl-next-door vibe and she’s still doing it. Take her latest edit for Peacocks, for instance. Yes she’s older, but she’s still cool as, without shedding one item of clothing. To be honest, seeing what female pop stars have to wear, or not as the case may be, these days, I’m glad I’m growing older with these lasses and that we’re still doing it in style. www.peacocks. co.uk/louiseredknapp-edit
