Gucci, Gucci Shoes at Oxfam in Holywood..

-

I am a huge fan of shopping in charity shops. I have been doing it since well before it was fashionable. And I would say around two-thirds of all the designer pieces in my wardrobe are pre-loved.

There’s no better feeling in the world than coming across a high-end label with a charity price tag on it. It has happened to me many times in the past, and it also happened quite recently.

The other week, I was in a charity shop in Holywood (the absolute best for designer items, unsurprisingly) and I was drawn to this beautiful chunky, cropped. camel knit on one of the rails.

I knew straight away it was expensive in its first life and it will probably still be dear enough in its second. However, it was a steal — just £17!

The last thing I needed was another jumper but it was Hugo Boss, it was in immaculate condition and it was, after all, for charity.

So I bought it, and I can honestly say I have not had it off me since. And I know it is something which I will pull out again and again for years to come.

That’s the beauty of charity shop thrifting, you can buy as much as you want and not have the guilt of contributing to fast fashion.

I see also that Oxfam in Holywood had a fabulous pair of Gucci shoes donated to them this week. While they would go perfectly with a chunky, cropped, camel Hugo Boss knit, they are just a little too high for me.

But they are perfect for someone else who is happy to hot foot it down for some hot footwear. And while you will nab a fab pair of designer heels, you can take comfort in the fact that the charity is still campaigning for its emergency Turkey and Syria earthquake appeal, so you will also be doing your bit too.

And this, dear readers, is why charity shopping is where it’s all going on.
