You’ll scrub up well with Voduz

So we spend a lot of time, effort and money looking after our skin, which is totally understandable.

But something was explained to me recently which was so obvious, but never really occurred to me before — our scalps should be treated in the same way we treat our face, because it is skin too.

Only difference is, it is covered in hair so we don’t see it, therefore we forget this oh-so-obvious fact.

But we really shouldn’t, because how we treat – or don’t treat as the case may be – our scalps is reflected in how healthy – or not-so-healthy as the case may be – our hair looks.

I was speaking to the co-owner of Irish haircare company Voduz, Denise Phillips, who was giving me a one-on-one consultation to help sort out my hair, which has been doing my head in my whole life.

I will be going into more detail about both Denise and her salon chain Pelo in my next Hair Special column because both deserve a lot more coverage, but for now, I would like to focus on one or her products in particular – The Voduz ‘Clear It’ Exfoliating Scalp Scrub. It is an absolute game changer. What is, or should be, the first step in everyone’s skincare routine is a really good, quality exfoliator.

We all know their benefits – they clear our skin of dead cells, which is essential if the next steps of your routine are to work to their highest standards. And the exact same should be done for our hair. I didn’t know that, but I do now and it has made a huge difference already after only a couple of weeks of usage.

With the Voduz Scalp Scrub, biodegradable granules (which will dissolve when being washed out, leaving no unwanted residue behind, help to remove any impurities in the scalp and/or build-up of dandruff.

Not only that, but the exfoliator is enriched with peppermint which will help to stimulate the scalp and hair growth and also lavender oils to soothe the scalp.

There is also a built-in UV filter (which our scalps need just as much as our face does) and antioxidant to help protect any cosmetic colour.

The Voduz ‘Clear It’ Exfoliating Scalp Scrub should be used 1-2 times weekly to remove any build-up on the scalp.

And if you really want to get into the nitty gritty, use it with the Voduz ‘Buff It’ Exfoliating Scalp Brush. Its root-stimulating bristles remove any unwanted build-up and impurities and helps to promote healthy hair and growth.

As I said, these two products are a game changer for me and they are now the first step in my routine every time I wash my hair.

My hair has more volume, it looks and feels healthier and I don’t have to wash it as much.

So if you are struggling with any sort of hair issue, make this your first step as it might just be the one you’re missing.
