Iknow I joked in the past about the May Bank Holiday Weekend influx and the stresses of entertaining my daughter during them, but really, in all honestly, I love them. I get to spend precious time with her outside of the school run and the work deadlines and we just get to do whatever we want, whenever we want for a couple of days.
And a lot of the time it involves nothing more than going for a walk and seeing where it takes us.
There is nothing I love more than walking hand-in-hand with my little girl as we discuss everything and anything going on in her head.
And for now, at the age of six, she thankfully insists on holding my hand the whole way.
However, the other day I noticed her skin was feeling a bit dry and tight. So I checked her other hand and found it was the same.
I put it down to the recent cold weather and the soap she likely uses at school as the same can’t be found anywhere else on her body.
When I got home I had a look for something to moisturise her hands with to soothe the dryness, but I could’t find anything that wasn’t pumped full of perfume and chemicals and which would likely make it worse.
So I vowed to find something that would help – and I did. In the form of Bioderma’s Atoderm range.
It consists of cleansing and skincare products for the face and body tailored to be used daily on dry, very dry or atopic skin as well as alongside treatments for eczema or itching.
The range incorporates a Skin Protect Complex™ containing vitamin PP and a combination of two sugars which physically and biologically recreates a healthy skin barrier and helps maintain the skin’s water reserves.
The products are extremely effective and my daughter loves using them. In fact, we all do.
They are a real family bathroom cupboard staple as they can be used on everyone and every age (except premature infants).
My go-to products are:
Creme ultra – It boosts the skin’s moisture level by stimulating the production of hyaluronic acid and lastingly protects the skin thanks to its lipid-replenishing action, providing softness and suppleness from the first application.
Gel douche – Soap free with a subtle fragrance, it softens and protects the skin, reducing sensations of tightness, as well as gently cleansing and respecting the skin balance.
Huile de douche – Intensely nourishing, it protects from external aggressions, soothing the feeling of tightness and increasing the resistance of the skin by recreating the protective film. Its Skin Barrier therapy™ also prevents the binding of the bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus) responsible for aggravation of skin irritation.
Bioderma Atoderm Moisturising Stick – It treats dry, chapped lips (something else my daughter suffers from at certain times of the year) as it is infused with moisturising Shea Butter and Avocado Oil, which repair and regenerate for long-lasting comfort. Can be used from 36 months.
Intensive Eye 3-in-1 Anti-Irritations Care – Now, this one’s just for me as it is formulated to answer to the specific needs of eyelids and contours of dry to irritated eyes (thanks computer screen). It soothes irritations, dryness and the itching sensation of the eye contour, as well as attenuating redness and offering a decongestant effect.
It also repairs the weakened areas and durably protects the skin, eliminates make-up and cleanses the impurities without assaulting the skin. It is suitable for contact lens wearers and its “airless” tube limits the contamination risks.
The fact is, the Bioderma Atoderm range is affordable and effective at targeting and eliminating any skin issues affecting anyone in the family and is available in most pharmacies.
So no home should be without it. I know mine won’t ever be again.
