ALLY: IT’S VITAL BOARD GIVE BEALE FINANCIAL BACKING

ALLY McCOIST has urged the Rangers board to give manager Michael Beale the financial backing he needs to win silverware.

And Ibrox legend Coisty (right) is also concerned about the running down of contracts at Govan that means a host of stars can leave on a free this summer.

Despite a trophyless season for Rangers, with rivals Celtic

on course for a Treble, McCoist believes Beale can turn things round – if he gets support.

Ahead of today’s clash with Aberdeen, the former striker said: “The board made a decision to hire Michael (left) and Rangers supporters must rally around the team now and give them support.

“Rangers need to start winning things again domestically. It’s important that Michael gets support from the board too and I’m sure he will. There are some exciting times ahead.

“Hiring any manager is a gamble and I was surprised that Rangers hired Michael.

“I thought they’d prefer someone with more experience – but when you actually think about it, they’ve hired someone that knows the club, has been there and knows what’s required of him. But he needs support from the board – it’s vital. The next two or three months are vital for Beale and his tenure.”

Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, Ryan Jack, Scott Arfield, Allan McGregor, Steve Davis and Filip Helander all set to leave in the summer. Morelos and Kent have been linked with a number of moves away during their time in

Glasgow – but Rangers are now likely to miss out on transfer fees for them.

McCoist reckons it’s a missed opportunity by the Ibrox decision-makers.

He said: “Morelos’ injury hasn’t helped – but he hasn’t reached the level required since the setback.

“He needs to regain a little bit of form if he wants to secure a move at the same level as Rangers are at.”
