Only plonkers will back Cam

-

No income tax, no VAT – the first line to the theme tune of Only Fools and Horses. But also the latest desperate line from David Cameron to cling on to power, promising a law to stop governments putting up income tax, VAT or National Insurance.

At the last election they promised not to put up VAT. And as soon as they got in they whacked it up to 20 per cent and gave tax cuts to millionaires. So now they promise a law to stop themselves breaking their own promises.

That’s what Cameron’s become. A Del Boy prime minister selling fake promises and knocked-off policies that fall apart like an old Robin threewheeler on the motorway.

He’s more Hooky Street than Downing Street. A prime plonker not a prime minister.

DEMORALISED

Dave Boy said the National Health Service would be “safe in my hands” – then blew £3billion on a damaging reorganisation that led to the worst A&E waiting times since records began, one in four people waiting more than a week to see a GP and nurses only getting a measly 1 per cent pay rise.

He said education “will be much better” but scrapped a school building programme to fund pointless free schools in areas with surplus school places, demoralised staff and saw exam pass rates decline.

He promised to get rid of the deficit but only halved it, increased public debt by half a trillion pounds and has borrowed more in five years than Labour did in 13. And they said they’d build more houses, but house building has dropped to the lowest level since the 1920s.

Now Dave Boy promises no increase in taxes, an extra £8billion on the NHS and a total of £25billion of unfunded commitments.

When asked how he’ll fund it, he bluffs he’ll get it from growth. But already growth is slowing down to just 0.2 per cent. Even Trigger wouldn’t fall for this con trick.

Now we know from a Lib Dem leak that two thirds of the £12billion Tory welfare cuts will probably come from further cuts to child benefit.

But for millionaires, it’s lovely jubbly. The Sunday Times Rich List 2015 shows that Britain has more billionaires per head of population than America, France and Germany.

These multi-millionaires increased their wealth by over 8 per cent in the past five years, while the rest of us are £1,600 a year worse off.

Only Fools would give Cameron another five years.

His only hope of staying in is to paint Ed Miliband as a weak leader. But who stood up to Murdoch, I was so sad to hear of the death of Margaret Rule, who led a team that raised the Mary Rose.

In 1975 I was invited by Margaret to dive to the ship.

She led me to the spot where I could place my hand on the stern of the vessel.

Margaret (pictured) was a wonderful woman and a brilliant archaeologist. A huge picture of the warship takes pride of place in my home, with Margaret’s dedication ‘Thank you for a memorable dive’. She will always be a treasure to me. stopped us going to war in Syria and took on the energy companies?

This election people have started to see what Ed’s actually like. A decent man with a plan: 36,000 new doctors, nurses and care workers, capping energy bills, 25 hours’ free childcare for working parents and cutting tuition fees and class sizes.

All our polices are costed and we’ll cut the deficit every year. We are about to witness the most important election since 1945. Back then, health, housing and jobs were what people wanted and Labour was swept to power. Seventy years on those issues still dominate the agenda. Our NHS is on life support, Generation Rent will never own a home and 700,000 people are only a text away from no work on zero-hours contracts.

Labour must seize that Spirit of ‘45 in the last few days of this campaign and fight like hell for the people who have been hit hard by this heartless government. So this Thursday please use your vote and let’s send Cameron and his dodgy pals packing for good.

Alright Dave?
