Star joins Instagram to mark 40th... and is instant online hit
My invitation to David Beckham’s 40th birthday party must have got lost in the post – but in case yours did too, he furnished us with the next best thing.
Yesterday, the football-legend-turnedfashion-icon joined Instagram to post photographs of his big day and invited fans to follow celebrations ‘ live’.
Unsurprisingly, the sex symbol’s images from Morocco were an instant hit – racking up more than 2.5million followers by last night.
First thing, he started with a topless pic of himself in bed. I can’t imagine what the appeal of that was...
Announcing his plan to give updates all day, Becks wrote: “I can’t wait to start sharing all my special moments with you. Thank you for all your birthday messages so far. Looking forward to a great day with friends and family.”
Later snaps included Becks with a big pile of presents and Victoria with her arm lovingly wrapped around her hubby’s neck beneath a ‘Happy birthday’ banner. She wrote: “So excited to be spending this special day with David and the kids in Marrakech!”
On the guestlist were Becks’ bezzie David Gardner with partner Liv Tyler, Eva Longoria, former Spice Girls Mel C and Emma Bunton, Guy Ritchie, Gordon Ramsay, Elizabeth Hurley and David Walliams. It’s thought Manchester
United stars from Becks’ Class of ’92 were also invited, with David posting a montage of footie memories.
But it was a surprise to see BBC Radio London’s Vanessa Feltz touching down in time for the party. Who knew?
Oldest son Brooklyn capitalised on his father’s popularity – with a million more fans following him as he said happy birthday. Other family members added to the album, with sister Joanne posting a childhood snap of the pair together on her own Instagram page.
Jo wrote: “A very happy 40th birthday to this special person, my brother. Everyone says they have the best brother but I definitely have.”
Guests enjoyed a banquet of Moroccan lamb at the exclusive Amanjena resort, which hosted the couple when they renewed their wedding vows in 2004.
