YOU could imagine West Brom manager Tony Pulis pinning the programme on the dressing room wall.

“Old Trafford is once again a ground that our opponents fear,” said Louis van Gaal in his programme notes.

“Are we scared?” would have been the last words Pulis asked when he sent his side out.

And he watched them deliver an emphatic answer as West Brom got the stunning win that ensured their own Premier League survival while leaving United still with work to do to be sure of automatic qualificat­ion for the Champions League.

United had won six games in a row at home before last night so maybe you could understand their manager’s optimism. But the Dutchman became the latest to learn that you can never take anything in the Premier League for granted.

Stung by West Brom taking the lead through a Chris Brunt free- kick that deflected off Swedish defender Jonas Olsson after 63 minutes, he then saw Robin van Persie’s penalty saved superbly by Boaz Myhill.

The keeper, who has stepped up because of injury to England star Ben Foster, also produced another brilliant stop to keep out a Juan Mata free-kick.

Pulis (right) said: “You need to be organised, resilient and have a bit of luck. We had that in abundance. It takes a lot of work and commitment.

“I went berserk today because someone had a mobile on trying to find out the other scores. I told them we only focus on us.
